SNOW TO RAIN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA NORTH CENTRAL MARYLAND
The next in a series of storms systems will be heading northeastward bring a round of snow to mix to rain in South Central Pennsylvania and North Central Maryland. Right now based on the latest weather models a coating to an inch or so of slop will occur in most areas but the further north and west you are the amounts do increase to 1 to 3 inches before a change to mix and then rain..Further north into North Central and Northeast Pennsylvania amounts will go higher with 6 to 8 inches possible in the northern most areas. There could be sleet and freezing rain for a few hours before a change to rain takes place.
There is a bit more cold air this time around than on Sunday with high pressure to the north at least at the start. This system is similar to Sunday's system in some ways. Low pressure will be moving very close to the coast.
You can see on the GFS map above the high to the north is pressing southward with cold air but the high retreats as the wave tracks northeastward with no redevelopment forecast. That would trap the cold air further south if the high were to hold in a bit longer but as stated earlier that high weakens and moves out.
