Severe Weather Threat Looms Late Today & Evening
The Storm Prediction Center has adjusted the "enhanced risk" area a bit for late this afternoon and evening but it still leaves South Central Pennsylvania and North Central Maryland right in the thick of it.
The map above shows the risk area over the real time radar view and we can see active waves of downpours moving from west to east. Being that we are sitting in the warm sector today with temperatures rising into the 80s, the downpours that are showing up to the north at the moment will pass north of us with no issue. The greatest threat for our area will be very late this afternoon into tonight (4pm-10pm). The atmosphere is screaming unstable here so the risk is certainly justified. We will just have to wait until late today to see just how ripe it gets.
In the meantime Mothers Day looms to be a different kind of day with the frontal boundary to our south. There may be some passing showers in the mix but there will be long dry stretches as well. To read more along with local radar views go to METEOROLOGISTJOECIOFFI.COM
